Day 142 - Clicker QUIZ

Today in WHAP we went over a google slides.

So one of the first topics we talked about was the transformation of the world economy. There are essentially 5 steps for how this comes to happen.

The first step is that the economic transition increases. The second is that the world trade will skyrocket. The third is that money becomes highly mobile. The fourth was the creation of transnational corporation. The fifth was large number of workers migrating from poor to rich countries.

These are all pretty self explanatory except for the fifth one, so I'm gonna give some details behind that one. In the example we used, Mr. Profitt talked about computer programmers coming from India to work in the US. In their perspective, they get paid more in the US as they are in higher demand than in their home country, so that's pretty nice for them. Then, the companies in the US don't have to pay them as much as they pay qualified people in the US, because there are so few qualified people in the US that they can charge lots of money.

Mr. Profitt said that this will have a large effect on us (our generation) as more and more people start migrating into the US. He described it as while in college, some Americans are partying it up and "finding them self (Asher)", the people from other countries are taking Calculus 3 and high-level computer science courses, getting "big".

An interesting thought, but in my mind if you work hard and are patient, for us at Jesuit especially, you'll eventually get the opportunity to be successful. Maybe hop back to this blog post though when you're in college and have the choice of doing your assignments or getting lit... because if you pick the latter you may be digging yourself into a hole that you just may not be able to get out of this time.

Another thing to note about class today was when we seemed to not be paying attention, Mr. Profitt asked if the reason for that was because we wanted to take the clicker quizzes. Only Patee felt that way, but then Mr. Profitt threw out the proposition that all the clicker quizzes become REAL quizzes. The majority of the class vetoed that one, but Mr. Profitt, with a sly smile on his face, decided to put us in a little bit of a situation. He gave us one question from the CC CQ from last night, and if the whole class got it right we would get to pick what we wanted to do with the quizzes. If even one person got it wrong, they were all going to be quizzes. I don't know what the result was, but hopefully the former.

With that, the bell rang and we were dismissed. Until Tomorrow!
