Day 124 - WWI Continued

Today in WHAP we continued our discussion on WWI.

So briefly we talked about Imperialism and Nationalism at the beginning of class, which then fills out the MAIN acronym. Imperialism is related through how Germany felt it was treated like a second class power by the other nations, and Nationalism is what prompted other countries to attempt to gain more land for their country.

So the Treaty of Versailles was the treaty signed after WWI. Before I get into that, I'm gonna show the effects of the war. Many cities and houses were destroyed in the combat, making it difficult to settle back in after the war was over. Millions of civilians and soldiers also died in the combat from. Also, many new nations were formed after the war.

In the Treaty, all the other nations were essentially trying to "git" Germany. They were trying to pin the blame on them, and as a result the treaty was quite unfair for Germany, with Germany being forced to admit that they were to blame for the war, and ceding much territory. The German obviously aren't happy about this, but they don't really have an option other than signing the document.

The Lost Generation in Europe was what the generation of people who fought in the war, because either due to their injuries or their experience in the war a lot of them couldn't do what they planned to do in their life, hence the potential of the generation was essentially wasted.

With that, the bell rang and we were dismissed. Think about it, only 3 more days until a 3 day weekend! Until Tomorrow!

P.S. If you didn't watch the CC video last night watch it tonight because we will take the clicker quiz tomorrow.
