Day 39 - The Beginning of the End

Today in WHAP we did several small things.

First we started off class with a the agenda for the week, which features a Crash Course and Strayer tonight and a reading quiz on Friday. Multiple Choice test corrections are due on Monday. Another odd thing is this week we have WHAP lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. So for those of you that just can't get enough of Mr. Profitt, you'll be able to hang out with him for some extra time this week. To be noted, Tuesday and Wednesday are more for test corrections while Thursday is for Quiz review.

Also, there are only 5 school weeks left until the final exam. The good news about that is we don't have any more mastery exams this semester, but the bad news is we have the final soon. Finals aren't fun.

After going over the agenda, we got into our table teams for an activity relating to the HW last night. We filled out the chart, siting three continuing themes and three differing ones. After we finished this, Mr. P checked them, deemed that they were all mainly true, and then moved on to notes.

We took some notes over some Period 3 themes, nicknamed the "Last Hurrah" for pastoralists. What this means is that this is the last time that pastoralists can compete with the other socities, and the prime example of a dominating pastoralist society is...you guessed it - the Mongols (Insert Mongaltage).

The reason that they were such a prime example was because of their amazing skills, like being able to ride 10 days in the saddle without getting off, being able to shoot their bows from all sorts of angles, and conquering many under the leadership of Genghis Khan.

We went over some more generalizations about period 3, and then class ended.



The bell rang and we were dismissed. Until Tomorrow!

Wednesday, August 30th, 2017 Today in WHAP, we discussed resources for studying and started talking about periodization.           Today, we started class off by addressing some of the resources we have at our disposal, first in our textbook and then other sources such as the Princeton Review and my personal favorite; Google. What I realized about the textbook today was that it's packed full of helpful resources such as important questions outside the margins, which are then answered in the text, and chapter overviews along with AP questions to help prepare for the big test later in the year. After seeing the all that the AP exam entails, I'm a little anxious for that in the Spring; however I'm sure we'll all be ready for it when the time comes.           Moving on from just the textbook, we also have resources in the study guide like videos to help understand the chapters and very detailed chapter outlines so that we can get a general knowledge of the material

Day 146 - Mega Super Omega Giant Clicker Activity

Today in WHAP we reviewed for the AP exam. We practiced today by using the clicker quiz technology to practice some MC questions for the exam. I did... amazing. Like if that mirrors the AP exam in difficulty I'm finna ace it. That was all we did today, but if you need to review concepts, perhaps concept 3.2, you should check out this neat video online . Day 153 - The Final Reflection

Today in WHAP (or rather several days ago) we had our last class. So to start this reflection off I'm basically going to go over my personal feelings about the class. For starters, lets go from an academic standpoint. Right from the first day, WHAP is probably going to seem scary. You're going to roll up to class, and Mr. Profitt is going to show you some musty image of someone getting sprayed with a fire house, because it's so much information. Sure, their is a lot to learn, but it's really not that bad. And that's kinda what you need to keep in mind in this class. You're going to get some low quiz grades, but there are so many that it will eventually balance out. You may get some bad mastery grades, but with revisions you'll make it an acceptable grade. Same thing with the information; if you kinda stay on top of things it won't be that bad. That's my feeling on this class; I think it was a difficult class but I wouldn't say it's im
